It Began With My Dad...
My interest in carpentry started with my father, who was a rough and finish carpenter for more than 50 years. He began during a time when houses were built without nail guns, power saws or forklifts. My dad was able to finish houses and build furniture with basic tools and by hand-nailing everything. I've never met anyone who worked harder than him.
I started accompanying my father on jobs as soon as I was able to walk. I've been doing finish carpentry full-time now for 28 years and part-time before that for several years. My dad taught me almost everything I know. Beyond that, he instilled in me the values of honesty and hard work, and to never give up. The greatest compliment I've ever received is when he would tell me that he was proud of me.
I carry what he taught me with me on every project I do. When working with customers, I always look for new ways to improve the project. Striving for perfection, I not only want what I'm working on to look great when finished, I want it to look great years from now. I know my father would approve.
